Ingredients
- 1 kg firm melon (not overripe)
- 150 g water
- 100 g sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
Instructions
- Prepare the Melon
Slice the melon into wedges, remove the rind and seeds, and cut it into large chunks. - Make the Syrup
In a pot, combine the water, sugar, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes, allowing the sugar to dissolve. - Cook the Melon
Add the melon pieces to the syrup and cook for 4-5 minutes, being careful not to overcook the melon to preserve its texture. - Cool and Store
Once cooked, transfer the melon and syrup to a bowl. Let it cool completely, then refrigerate to enjoy chilled. - For Longer Preservation
For longer storage, transfer the hot melon compote to sterilized glass jars, sealing them tightly while hot. Place the jars in a pot with enough water to cover them. Bring the water to a boil, then turn off the heat and let the jars sit in the hot water for 5 minutes.
Remove the jars, let them cool slightly, and tighten the lids securely. Store in a cool, dry place or in the refrigerator.
