Ingredients
- 1 kg pears
- 100 g sugar
- 200 g water
- 6 cloves
Instructions
- Prepare the Pears
Peel the pears. You can leave them whole or cut them in half, removing the seeds.
If keeping them whole, remove the seeds using a corer or a small, sharp knife. - Make the Syrup
In a pot, combine the water, sugar, and cloves. Bring to a boil and stir until the sugar dissolves. - Cook the Pears
Add the pears to the pot and simmer until they soften slightly but still retain a firm bite. Avoid overcooking to prevent them from becoming mushy. - Cool and Store
Once cooked, remove the pot from the heat and transfer the pears and syrup to a bowl. Let them cool completely, then refrigerate to enjoy chilled. - For Long-Term Storage
For longer preservation, transfer the hot pears and syrup into sterilized jars, sealing them tightly while hot. Place the jars upside down in a pot lined with a clean cloth. Cover with water and boil for 15-20 minutes.
Remove the jars, let them cool slightly, then tighten the lids securely. Store in a cool, dry place or in the refrigerator.
