Ingredients

  • 1 kg green apples
  • 200 g water
  • 150 g sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples
Peel the apples, remove the cores, and cut them into quarters.
  2. Make the Syrup
In a pot, combine the water and sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Cook the Apples
Add the apple quarters and the cinnamon stick to the boiling syrup. Simmer gently for 10-15 minutes, checking with a fork to ensure the apples remain firm and don’t become mushy.
  4. Cool and Store
Transfer the apples and syrup to a bowl and let them cool completely. Store in the refrigerator.
  5. Long-Term Storage
For extended preservation, transfer the compote to sterilized jars while still hot and seal tightly.
Place a clean cloth at the bottom of a deep pot, arrange the jars upside down, and cover them with water. Boil for 10-15 minutes.
Remove the jars, let them cool slightly, tighten the lids securely, and store in the refrigerator or a cool, dry place.
