Ingredients

  • 1 kg apples (peeled and cored)
  • 200 g sugar
  • 400 g water
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples
Peel the apples, remove the cores, and cut them into quarters.
  2. Make the Syrup
In a wide, shallow pot, combine the water and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the syrup begins to boil.
  3. Cook the Apples
Add the apples and the cinnamon stick to the syrup. Place a plate over the apples to ensure they remain submerged in the syrup.
Let them simmer gently for about 15 minutes, taking care not to stir to prevent breaking them apart. The apples should remain slightly firm to the bite.
  4. Cool and Store
Once cooked, transfer the apples to a bowl and store in the refrigerator to enjoy chilled.
  5. Preservation
If making a large batch, transfer the apples and syrup to sterilized jars, seal tightly, and place them upside down in a pot lined with a clean kitchen towel. Cover the jars with water and boil for 15-20 minutes. Remove from the water, tighten the lids if necessary, and store in a cool place or the refrigerator.
