Ingredients
- 350 g kumquats
- 300 g sugar
- 500 g tsipouro (or a similar grape-based spirit)
- 4-5 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
Instructions
- Prep the Kumquats:
Wash the kumquats thoroughly. Cut them in half and place them into a large glass jar. - Add the Rest of the Ingredients:
Add the sugar, tsipouro, cloves, and cinnamon stick to the jar. Stir gently, then seal it tightly. - Infuse and Wait:
Store the jar in a cool, shaded area for 20-30 days. Shake it regularly to ensure the sugar dissolves completely and the flavors blend well. - Strain the Liqueur:
After 30 days, strain the mixture through a double layer of muslin or cheesecloth. Do not press the fruit to keep the liqueur clear and pure. - Bottle and Rest:
Pour the strained liqueur into sterilized bottles. Let it rest for one more week to allow the flavors to mellow and harmonize. After that, it’s ready to enjoy.
