Ingredients
- 1 kg vanilla fruit (also known as “vanílies” in Greek, a type of plum)
- 1 liter vodka or tsipouro (Greek grape distillate)
- 800 g sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the Fruit:
Wash the vanilla fruits thoroughly and cut them into pieces. Leave them with their skins and pits intact, as they contribute to the flavor profile. - Combine and Infuse:
Place the fruit pieces in a large, airtight glass jar. Add the sugar and vodka, then seal the jar tightly. - Steep in the Shade:
Store the jar in a cool, shaded place for one month. Shake it often to help the sugar dissolve and the flavors infuse thoroughly. - Strain & Bottle:
After one month, strain the liqueur through a muslin cloth or other fine filter. Transfer the strained liqueur into sterilized glass bottles. - Enjoy!
Your vanilla fruit liqueur is now ready to savor.
