Ingredients

  • 300 g mangosteen fruit
  • 500 g vodka
  • 400 g sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit:
Using a serrated knife, carefully cut around the mangosteen and remove the top part. The rind is tough, so proceed slowly and with caution to avoid injury.
  2. Extract the Flesh:
Use a small spoon to gently scoop out the white, juicy flesh from inside the shell.
  3. Combine the Ingredients:
Place all the cleaned mangosteen flesh into a large glass jar. Add the sugar and the vodka, then seal the jar tightly.
  4. Infuse:
Store the jar in a dimly lit area for 3 weeks. Shake it often to help dissolve the sugar.
  5. Strain and Adjust:
After 3 weeks, strain the mixture through a fine sieve. For a clearer result, strain it again through a coffee filter. Taste the liqueur and add a bit more sugar or vodka if desired, depending on how sweet or strong you like it.
  6. Bottle and Enjoy:
Transfer the liqueur into thoroughly sterilized glass bottles and it’s ready to savor.
