Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef, cut into portions
  • 8 cleaned artichokes
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste or 4 ripe tomatoes, crushed
  • 1/2 bunch parsley, finely chopped, or dill
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sweet paprika
  • Cinnamon
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a pot and sauté the beef on all sides until browned.
  2. Add the garlic, onions, and artichokes, and sauté them all together.
  3. Remove the artichokes and place them in a bowl; set them aside and add them back 30 minutes before the beef finishes cooking.
  4. To the beef, add the tomatoes, parsley, salt, pepper, paprika, cinnamon, and enough water to cover the meat. Cover the pot and simmer until the beef is tender.
  5. About 30 minutes before the beef is done, return the artichokes to the pot and let them cook until the sauce thickens.
  6. Add a little more water during cooking if needed.
