Ingredients for Arabic Flatbread Dough

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 300g water
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions for the Dough

  1. In a bowl, add the flour, salt, pepper, sesame seeds, and olive oil.
  2. Gradually add the water, kneading until a soft dough forms that doesn’t stick to your hands. Add more flour if necessary.
  3. Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Divide the dough into 7 pieces and roll each piece out into a thin flatbread.
  5. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and gently press them down to stick.

  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Dried oregano

Instructions for the Meat Patties

  1. Place the ground beef in a bowl, flatten slightly, and drizzle with vinegar.

  4. Remove from the fridge, knead briefly, and shape into patties of your desired size.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 190-200°C (375-400°F) for 30-35 minutes until golden brown on both sides, adjusting time based on oven and thickness.

Assembly

  1. Place the flatbreads on a clean surface and layer each with meat patties, tomatoes, feta cheese, lettuce, and a sprinkle of oregano.
  2. Fold the flatbreads in half, then toast in a sandwich press for about 5 minutes until warmed and slightly crispy.
