A kiss, proof that love lives in the small things
Homemade Arbutus Liqueur
This traditional recipe transforms wild arbutus berries into a sweet and aromatic liqueur. With just three simple ingredients — arbutus berries, vodka, and sugar — time and sunlight do the magic, creating a drink full of Mediterranean charm.
The result is a smooth, fragrant liqueur with fruity notes and a natural sweetness. Enjoy it chilled after a meal, share it with friends, or add it as a unique touch in your favorite cocktails.
Ingredients
500 grams of ripe arbutus
500g of vodka
300-400 g of sugar depending on how sweet we want it
Method
Rinse the skin of the arbutus with cold water with care not to break it. Put them on kitchen towels to dry. Place them in a jar, add the vodka and sugar, seal it well, and place the jar in the sun. We leave it in the sun for 15-20 days, and we shake it carefully every day to dissolve the sugar. When it’s ready, strain the mixture and pour it in a bottle. Inside the bottle we put 5-6 of our arbutus fruit that we previously had in the jar. This is to ensure that the flavor of the drink remains strong.
