Ingredients
- 300g flour
- 350ml lukewarm water
- 50g sunflower seeds
- 1/2 sachet dry yeast
- A pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Prepare the dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and a small portion of the sunflower seeds. Mix well. Create a well in the center and add the olive oil. - Add water:
Gradually pour in the water while kneading the mixture until you achieve a soft dough that doesn’t stick to your hands. You may not need all the water, or you may need to add a little more if required. - Shape the dough:
Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Shape the dough into oval loaves or a round loaf, depending on your preference. - Add sunflower seeds:
Wet your hands lightly and smooth the top of the dough. Spread the remaining sunflower seeds on a clean surface and roll the loaves over them to coat evenly. - Proof the dough:
Place the loaves on the prepared baking tray, cover them with a clean kitchen towel, and then with a light blanket. Leave the dough in a warm place to rest and rise for 2-3 hours until doubled in size. - Bake the bread:
Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F). Once heated, lower the temperature to 170-180°C (338-356°F) and bake the bread for 50-55 minutes, depending on your oven. - Cool the bread:
When done, remove the bread from the baking tray and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel until completely cooled.
There’s something so comforting about baking your own bread. This sunflower seed loaf combines a delightful crunch with a soft, fluffy interior, perfect for sandwiches or as a side to your favorite soups and salads. Enjoy the warm aroma and the satisfaction of homemade goodness!
