Ingredients
- 1 small cabbage, chopped into pieces
- 80 g Carolina rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- Olive oil
- Dill or fennel
- Salt
- Pepper
- Sweet paprika
Instructions
- Prepare the Cabbage
- Cut the cabbage into quarters and then into slices. Wash it thoroughly in a basin of water and let it drain in a colander.
- Sauté the Vegetables
- Heat the olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until softened. Add the cabbage and cook for a few minutes until it wilts slightly.
- Simmer the Cabbage
- Add enough water to cover the cabbage and simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Add the Rice and Seasonings
- Stir in the rice, dill (or fennel), salt, pepper, and sweet paprika. Mix well and continue cooking over low heat for another 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking. If needed, add a little water to maintain a moist consistency.
- Serve
- Once the rice is tender and the dish has a creamy texture, remove from heat and serve warm.
