- 1 small cabbage, chopped into pieces
- 100 g Carolina rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1-2 carrots, grated
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- Olive oil
- Dill or fennel
- Salt
- Pepper
- Sweet paprika
Instructions
- Prepare the Cabbage and Vegetables
- Cut the cabbage into quarters, then slice it thinly. Wash it thoroughly in a bowl of water and let it drain in a colander. Peel and chop the onion and garlic, and wash the dill or fennel.
- Sauté the Vegetables
- Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until softened. Stir in the cabbage and grated carrot, cooking until they wilt slightly.
- Simmer the Cabbage
- Add enough water to cover the cabbage and let it simmer for 30-35 minutes, until the cabbage softens.
- Add Rice and Seasonings
- Once the cabbage is tender, stir in the rice, dill, salt, pepper, and sweet paprika. Cook over medium heat for another 20 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking. Add more water if necessary.
- Serve
- When the rice is tender and the dish has a creamy consistency, remove from heat and serve warm.
