Ingredients

  • 1 kg Swiss chard
  • 1 bunch dill
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3-4 spring onions, finely chopped
  • 100 g rice
  • 200 g water
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sweet paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Swiss Chard
    • Place the Swiss chard in a bowl with water and a little vinegar for 5 minutes to remove any impurities or bugs. Wash thoroughly 4-5 times until completely clean. Bundle the chard together and cut it into pieces about 3-4 cm long.
  2. Sauté the Onions
    • Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and spring onions, and sauté until softened and fragrant.
  3. Add the Swiss Chard
    • Stir in the Swiss chard, mixing gently, and let it wilt in the pot.
  4. Cook with Rice
    • Once the chard has wilted, add the water, rice, and salt. Stir continuously to prevent sticking. Gradually add more water if needed, ensuring that the dish doesn’t become overly watery.
  5. Season and Finish
    • Ten minutes before the dish is fully cooked, add the dill, pepper, and sweet paprika. Stir well to blend the flavors and retain the fresh aroma of the herbs.
  6. Serve
    • Once the rice is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed, remove from heat and serve warm.

A Wholesome Taste of Simplicity
Swiss chard with rice is a nutritious and comforting dish that highlights the natural flavors of fresh greens. Enhanced by dill and paprika, it’s perfect as a light main course or a hearty side dish. A recipe that proves simple ingredients can create magic on your plate!
