Ingredients
- 1.5 kg beef
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 4 ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 50 ml wine
- Salt
- Pepper
- Sweet paprika
- Olive oil
For the Rice
- 300g long-grain rice
- 650 ml water
- Salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions for the Beef
- Heat olive oil in a pot over high heat and sear the beef on all sides. Once browned, transfer it to a bowl.
- In the same pot, sauté the onions and garlic for 1-2 minutes, then add the tomatoes and bring to a boil.
- Add the beef back to the pot along with the cinnamon stick, salt, pepper, paprika, and wine.
- Keep the pot uncovered and let the alcohol evaporate. Add just enough water to cover the meat.
- Simmer over medium heat for 1.5 to 2 hours until the beef is tender, adding more water if necessary.
Instructions for the Rice
- In a separate pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the rice and stir briefly to coat it in the warm oil.
- Pour in the water and add salt. Simmer on medium heat for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
- If you prefer softer rice, add a little more water and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
Serve the rice alongside the braised beef and enjoy!
