Ingredients:

  • 200g strained yogurt
  • 200g oil
  • 200g water
  • 500g flour (plus extra if needed)
  • 200g grated cheese (feta or any other cheese you prefer)
  • Extra flour for rolling the dough
  • 1 sachet dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Olive oil for frying

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, add the flour and make a well in the center.
    • Add all the ingredients and knead until a soft dough forms.
    • Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rest for 1 hour.
  2. Shape the Dough:
    • Divide the dough into balls about the size of a large walnut.
    • Lightly flour your work surface and press each ball with your fingers to flatten it into your desired size.
  3. Fry the Bread:
    • Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
    • Fry the flattened dough pieces on both sides until they are golden brown.
    • Remove and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  4. To Serve:
    • Serve warm, plain, or paired with additional cheese, honey, or your favorite spreads.

These golden fried breads are a delightful treat, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or even a quick breakfast. Whether topped with something sweet or savory, they’re sure to become a family favorite!
