Ingredients

  • 4 portions of chicken
  • 300 g trahana (traditional Greek pasta)
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sweet paprika
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a pot, heat the olive oil, sauté the chicken, then transfer it to a bowl and set aside.
  2. In the same oil, sauté the garlic and onion, then add the tomatoes and continue to sauté everything together for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Return the chicken to the pot with the tomato sauce.
  4. Cover the chicken with water, season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  5. Cover the pot and let it simmer for approximately 40 minutes.
  6. When the chicken is cooked, transfer it to a bowl again and add the trahana to the sauce.
  7. Stir the trahana frequently as it cooks to prevent sticking.
  8. If the trahana needs more water as it cooks, add as much as you like to reach your desired consistency.
  9. Finally, return the chicken to the pot with the cooked trahana, let everything cook together for another 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
