Ingredients

  • 1 bonito, sliced
  • 3-4 tablespoons mustard
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sweet paprika
  • Oregano
  • 80-90 ml water
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation

  1. Clean the fish thoroughly, slice it, rinse well, and place it in a strainer to drain.
  2. In a wide pot, heat the olive oil and lightly sauté the fish on both sides.
  3. Add the garlic, sautéing it for about 1 minute, taking care not to let it burn and become bitter.
  4. Add the water, salt, paprika, and pepper, and simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Finally, add the mustard and let the sauce simmer for an additional 5 minutes to thicken. If more liquid is needed, add a bit of water.
  6. When the sauce reaches the desired consistency, add the oregano and turn off the heat.

This deliciously tangy dish combines tender bonito with a smooth mustard sauce, complemented by the warm notes of garlic and oregano—a perfect, flavorful meal that’s sure to delight. Enjoy!
