Ingredients

  • 1 medium mullet (bafa), cut into pieces
  • 2 potatoes, quartered
  • 1 carrot, sliced into rounds
  • A handful of celery, chopped
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sweet paprika
  • A pinch of hot pepper (optional)
  • 2 cups water
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Sauté all the vegetables, except for the tomatoes, for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the tomatoes, salt, pepper, sweet paprika, hot pepper (if using), and water to the pot.
  3. Simmer the stew for 15-20 minutes, until the vegetables begin to soften.
  4. Add the fish pieces to the pot and continue to simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes until the stew thickens slightly.
  5. If needed, add a bit more water as it cooks to keep a light sauce consistency.
