Ingredients

  • 150 g grape molasses (petimezi)
  • 100 g olive oil
  • 200 g orange juice
  • 100 g sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 100 g sesame seeds
  • 500 g self-rising flour

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tray:
    Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
    In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, ground cloves, cinnamon, grape molasses, sugar, and salt. Whisk with a hand whisk until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients:
    Dissolve the baking soda in the orange juice and add it to the mixture. Gradually incorporate the flour, mixing with a spoon at first, then knead gently by hand until you have a soft dough.
  4. Shape the Cookies:
    Divide the dough into 50 g portions, shape them as desired, and place them on the prepared baking tray.
  5. Add Sesame Seeds:
    Sprinkle the cookies with sesame seeds.
  6. Bake:
    Preheat the oven to 170-180°C (340-355°F). Bake the cookies for 15-18 minutes, or until lightly golden, depending on your oven.
