Ingredients

  • 400g broccoli florets
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 100g cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for the mixture
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the broccoli into florets, wash them thoroughly, and place them in a pot. Cover with water, add a pinch of salt, and boil until tender.
  2. Once cooked, drain the broccoli, let it cool slightly, and finely chop it into a bowl.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, egg, cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, olive oil, and breadcrumbs to the bowl. Mix everything well until combined.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  5. Remove the bowl from the refrigerator, shape the mixture into patties, and fry them in olive oil over medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Alternatively, you can bake the fritters in the oven. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake at 180-190°C (350-375°F) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
