Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef, cut into small pieces
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 50 g red wine
  • 6 cloves (the spice)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leaf
  • A pinch of oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sweet paprika
  • 200 g water
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a wide pot over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic.
  2. Add the chopped meat, sauté briefly with the onions, season with salt, and deglaze with the wine.
  3. Next, add the tomatoes and sauté them along with the onion and meat for a few minutes.
  4. Finally, add all the spices, pour in the water, cover the pot, and simmer on low heat for 1 hour.
  5. Avoid stirring the food with a spoon; instead, gently shake the pot to prevent sticking. Add more water if needed.

Ingredients for the Mashed Potatoes

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • A pinch of nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Peel, wash, and cut the potatoes into cubes.
  2. Place them in a pot, cover with water, and add salt.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat, cover the pot, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
  4. Drain the potatoes and mash them. Add the milk, butter, pepper, nutmeg, and mix well until smooth.
