Ingredients:
- 1 kg flour
- 250 g milk
- 80 g olive oil
- 100 g warm water
- 1 packet of dry yeast
- Salt
- 1 egg
- 300 g melting cheese
- Olive oil for frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the Yeast:
Dissolve the yeast in warm water, stir, and set it aside. - Make the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, add the flour and create a well in the center.
Into the well, add the egg, milk, olive oil, yeast mixture, and a pinch of salt.
Knead the ingredients together until you have a soft, non-sticky dough.
Cover and let it rest for about 1 hour in a warm place. - Shape the Dough:
After the dough has rested, transfer it to a work surface and divide it into 6 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a circle about 20 cm in diameter. - Add the Filling:
Place the cheese in the center of each circle. Gather the edges to form a pouch, then flatten it gently with a rolling pin to create a pie shape. - Prepare the Pies:
Use your fingers to press small indentations across the surface of each pie. - Cook the Pies:
- For Frying: Heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, reduce the heat slightly and fry each pie for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- For Baking: Preheat the oven to 190-200°C (375-400°F). Place the pies on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden, depending on your oven.
