Ingredients
- 5 lemons
- 750 g tsipouro (or a neutral grape spirit)
- 300 g water
- 750 g sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the Lemons:
Wash the lemons thoroughly and cut each into four pieces. Place them in a large glass jar. - Infuse with Tsipouro:
Add the tsipouro, seal the jar tightly, and store it in a cool, shaded spot for 2 weeks. This allows the lemon aroma to infuse into the spirit. - Make the Syrup:
After 2 weeks, combine the water and sugar in a saucepan and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes until the sugar dissolves and the syrup thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely. - Strain and Mix:
Strain the infused spirit through a fine cloth or cheesecloth into a bowl, discarding the lemons. Once the syrup is fully cooled, add it to the strained spirit and stir well to combine. - Bottle It Up:
Pour your finished liqueur into sterilized glass bottles, seal them, and store in a cool, dark place.
