Homemade Banana Jam
Homemade banana jam turns overripe bananas into silky sweetness. First, you mash ripe bananas until chunky. Then, you stir in sugar, a splash of lemon juice, and a hint of vanilla or warm spice. Next, cook gently until thick and glossy. Finally, jar while warm. The result is creamy, aromatic, and full of comforting sweetness.
Ingredients
● 1 kg bananas
● 700 g sugar
● juice of 1 lemon
● 30 g cognac
● 150 g water
Directions
In a pot, put the water, the sugar and the lemon juice and put on high heat.
Peel the bananas and slice into rings.
Once the water and sugar have come to a boil add the bananas and boil for about 20 minutes.
Stir frequently so it does not scorch.
Once the bananas have dissolved in the syrup our jam is ready.
If the jam is still too runny, boil for another 5 minutes.
Turn off the heat, add the cognac and stir.
Store the jam in sterilized jars.
